![]() I just wish it had a bit more of a settler/world builder attitude in that specific game mode. I like it very much and still have to learn a lot about races, units and spells available. Even in Empire Build mode this game seems to require constant spying and ambushing/harassing, ditching in is not supported at all, it will kill you. ![]() I probably did too much empire building and the AI used its armies to conquer and gro faster, then attacked me. I could kill 2 of the heroes and the monsters, then the last hero (the wizard) retreated and killed unit by unit with that spell. They killed an entire high elf bowmen unit with a single "Fire Bomb" (don't know what it was, but it was huge) spell from a ridiculeous distance (twice as far as my high elf archers could fire). ![]() Last game an AI army had 3 orc heroes and a few flying hard hitting monsters. No mind control/turn spell learned so far (if available at all) and no mass musketeer or pike units too. They appear during early game where I am still mustering regular troops of rather low quality. I found the AI herostacks pretty efficient (=annoying) so far. Any ideas how to counter these annoying "all hero armies"? This reminds me a bit of Warhammer Fantasy Tabletop where regular units were just decoration and battles decided almost only by heroes. I just wonder if this is normal AI behaviour or random. On the other hand the AI managed to decimate all my armies with this strategy - when I brought them to a halt I had nothing left and another AI player simply took over all my cities. So, am i forced to build armies with more than one hero in them? It's a risky tactic, after one or two losses you might end up without any heroes. Those hero armies simply storm any fortification, decimate any missile troops and even my harder hitting melee units are no match. My regular units shoot arrows over arrows at them but to no avail. They are usually faster, more flexible, use spells and are tough as hell. Depending on race and class these heroes are massively overpowered. That means where I have 1 hero and 5 troop units, the AI often uses 3 or 4 heroes with 2-3 troops. I played several campaigns on simple mode against AI and I found that the AI always seems to build armies from heroes. ![]()
